Picture of the Month, April 2001 ![]() On the picture above is Göka tramcar no. 255 at Wessels plass. The tramcar was originally Göteborg Spårvägar's tramcar no. 56 and was put into service on August 17th, 1951. It was rebuilt for right-hand traffic at June 11th, 1967. The tramcar came to Oslo in August 1978. It was discarded on January 1st, 1989, and scrapped on January 31st, same year. The tramcar class M23 was built by Hägglund & Söner and delivered to Göteborg Spårvägar in 1951. Seven tramcars were sold to Oslo Sporveier between 1978 and 1981, where they classified as MBG and got the nickname Göka. They were single ended bogie cars, built for one-way entrance. The tramcars were 13,05 m long, 2,5 m wide, weighted 16000 kg, and had an effect of 4x 45,6 kW. After the closure decision was cancelled in 1975, Oslo Sporveier had to look for a replacement for some discarded Goldfishes, to keep the routes running. While waiting for a decision to buy new tramcars, they chose to buy seven used tramcars from Göteborg, classes M23 and S27. The trams got the numbers 254-260. No. 254-256 were discarded on January 1st, 1989. No. 257-260 were discarded on January 1st, 1984. Photo: LTF Archive. |
