Picture of the Month, May 2001 ![]() The first big bogie cars for Bærumsbanen, the C1 class, were bidirectional cars with central platform and stuffed cross seats with reversible backs. The body was made of steel, and the cars were delivered by Skabo in the period 1939-42 with electrical equipment from Siemens. The cars were 17 metres long, 3,13 metres wide, weighted 30400 kilogrammes and had a motor effect on 4x 55 kW. The cars had 72 seats and space for 88 people standing. In 1982, the class were renumbered from 301-308 to 421-428. The cars got some technical equipment from A class tramcars that were discarded. On the pictures above is no. 425, ex 305, at Majorstuen on its way to Holmenkollen. The car was put into service on June 15th, 1942. It was discarded on May 4th, 1992, and scrapped on April 20th, 1994. Photo: LTF Archive. |
