Picture of the Month, November 2005 ![]() The A cars used by Bærumsbanen are well reputed for their low speed and poor brakes. This picture is taken in the narrow passage east of Jar station, looking towards Oslo. The soil that was excavated when the line was built was used to fill in the course of the Lysaker river right behind the train. This river forms the boundary between the municipalities of Oslo and Bærum. When this picture was taken in 1924, the land on the other side of the river was still a part of the municipality of Aker, which was merged with Oslo in 1948.
